The Next Step Forward in the Sebenza lineage: the Sebenza 31
About this model: The "Lunar Landing" is one of the Sebenza designs new for 2019 from CRK, a design to commemorate the Apollo 11 mission's 50th anniversary. This design features multi color engraved design on the presentation side scale with satin finished flats. Each one features a stunning chrysocolla cabochon incorporated into the artwork for a 3D effect! The lock side has a matte blasted finish and features an engraved "08.03.18.35" in reference of the total mission time of Apollo 11. The blade has a stonewashed finish. The thumbstud and lanyard pin are anodized gold.
About the Sebenza: Since 1990 The Chris Reeve Sebenza (Zulu word for work) has set the standard for what is possible in a precision manufactured folding knife. Chris Reeve developed the Sebenza Integral Lock (commonly referred to as a frame lock) which is concept of a handle slab to be used as the lock bar for the blade resulting in exceptional strength for hard use. Never one to become complacent, Chris Reeve has consistently looked to improve the Sebenza in both materials and design. The new Sebenza 31 model represents the accumulation of more than 30 years of experience and user feedback. It has grown and evolved from it's predecessors, incorporating new elements such as:
- Ceramic ball lockbar interface for reliable, durable and smooth lock up and unlock
- Offset clip lessen's pressure applied to lock bar for easier manipulation
- No presentation side frame fixture hole for more uniform aesthetics
- One-piece inlays (for Inlay models) for a classic look
- Updated manufacturing processes for even tighter tolerances and simpler parts support down the road
About CPM S35VN: CPM S35VN is stainless steel that is basically a product improved version of CPM S30V. Chris Reeve worked with Crucible steel to refine the alloy mixture. There is an addition of Niobium to the alloy which results in better edge retention and toughness as well as corrosion resistance when compared to CPM S30V.
The Blade: The Tanto blade profile has a double hollow ground main bevel and is a total workhorse of a blade profile. The S35VN stainless steel blade has a stonewashed (tumbled) finish.
The Frame: The inlaid Inkosis offer a different look as well as a different feel in the hand. The inlay pieces provide more of a radius than the traditional flat sides of the Inkosi. They are fit into precision machined pockets on each sale and secured. The micarta is natural canvas and in keeping with the 'working knife' theme, the handle is sandblasted.
About this model: The Inkosi (Zulu word for 'chief') is the product of tried and proven design elements that have been continuously refined for over 30 years . With the Inkosi Chris Reeve Knives continues the evolution of the Integral Lock folder. Never content to rest on past success, Chris Reeve Knives has raised the bar again. Some of the highlights include:
-Stability to the locking mechanism
-Larger, more stout pivot coupling
-Oversized phosphor bronze washers are the same size -front and back, locate off the stop pin, and have extra-large grease pockets
-Upgraded, beefier, stop pin
-Blade introduces CRK’s Large Hollow Grind technology on a smaller knife and is 8% thicker than the Small Sebenza 21
-Standard double thumb lugs
-Pocket clip is mounted so that it rests on the spine rather than the lock bar, eliminating the possibility of pressure on the lock bar
-Ceramic ball lock bar interface. This does not mean just a ceramic detent, but rather a ceramic ball that actually acts as the interface between the lock bar and the blade tang.
-With its 2.75 blade length, the Inkosi is legal to carry in most locations.
